Project Red Dress…

Hello again!!

It’s been a while but I have an important thing to share! Recently I was chosen to participate in a competition called Project Red Dress. This is a competition that is a spoof of Project Runway and is a charity event for the American Red Cross. Every Saturday in January, we are to meet for 6 and 5 hour sessions. It is during this time, a total of 16 hours, that we have to make our original red gown. This year our models will be influential women of Seattle and Bellevue. The event will be held at the Fairmount Olympic Hotel downtown Seattle and the Seattle Symmphony Orchestra will be the entertainment for the night! It should be a great event!!  Check out the webpage for the event: www.projectreddress.com  and visit the facebook page as well!!

Wish me luck!

Ten Questions for Project Runway

I am a big fan of Project Runway (although I found out some disappointing things I still watch it every week!) so I thought I would share this with everyone. If you don’t understand them you should watch it!

1. Excuse me, how many curlers does Laura need every morning? Last time I checked, she’s not rocking Kim Kardashian’s waves or anything. 2. Don’t Anya’s ears hurt from wearing those gigantic earrings everyday? 3. Did Joshua just lick a bolt of fabric at Mood? Does he just miss licking things or is it some kind of test? 4. Why do they get to finish their days before 11pm? Pretty sure they’re the only people in fashion who get to go to bed that early.

Dreams do come true.

I said I wanted to use this blog for topics on fashion but since it’s my blog I can do whatever I want! It has been a dream of mine for a while now… To qualify for and go to the USET Talent Search Finals in Los Angeles! Well I did it and in less than two weeks from today I will be competing against 50 possibly more of the West coast top junior/amateur equitation riders. When I qualified I almost cried! lol Today my horse got all of his injections so that he will be feel perfect for the show! Wish me luck :)

At the Thunderbird Horse Park this week just for the USET Talent Search and then next week I’ll be doing the whole thing. I thought I was suppose to be leaving tomorrow, but a last minute change had me changing a couple plans however it will all be fun! Hope I do okay tomorrow.

Nordstrom Rack Day.

Today for the Nordstrom Internship we went to work at the Rack of our choice. I chose to go to store 15, Golde Creek Plaza Rack! It was such an amazing day! The people there are so great, kind, and fun! They love their job for all the right reasons. When we first got there the store manager Stella Porter had made us coffee and gotten us donuts :) She was so sweet! Then I started in the shoe department! It was such a blast and the manager of the dept was really fun and upbeat. My second area was women’s clothing which was my favorite! We started just tagging all the skinny jeans with a skinny jean tag. Then the manager asked if someone wanted to volunteer for another job so I said yes. This was the best job of the day!! I got to do visual and pick out an entire outfit for a mannequin as long as it had this top. It was a dream come true! And everyone loved it! I went for a comfy chic look that any woman could wear out on a lunch date, at the beach, with friends, or just running errands!

Moving.

In exactly 22 days I will be just like this girl! Moving out of one home and hopefully into a new one. I am going to miss my girls so much and I honestly wish I could stay and never leave! The house I am in now is amazing and soo great that anything that I see now sucks! Let’s just hope everything works out okay.

Home Alone…

..means time to get things done and pretend I’m not scared! Both of my roomies have gone off on their amazing summer adventures while I have to stay behind and be all grown up and go to work :/ Sometimes this is not fun, but on my day off I actually did a lot! I woke up and went riding and then can back showered, then started laundry and cleaning my room. Then there was the stack of homework that needed to get done! (blah) but I did it. The only thing that is hard is coming home late and the house is dark! It freaks me out!

come home soon roomies!

Draping for Apparel Design

Below are pictures of my final project for my apparel draping class that was last Spring. This was such a hard thing to do and I found myself in the sewing lab by myself at times until 4 or 5 in the morning! But in the end it was so much fun and such an accomplishment. The inspiration for the gown was the Japanese Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C. I ended up getting a 100% on this project and that alone was so rewarding. Hope you all love it!

Layer your day

LAYERS
LAYERS by Taryn Sytsma featuring golden jewelry

For this summer I have been in love with layers! Especially since I never know what the weather will be like in Seattle these days. For this look I was inspired by the boho/nautical themes. I layered a boxy crop top over a racer back black and white stripped maxi and put some bright and fun sandals with it. I did a nautical themed CHANEL earring and layered three different necklaces. Two rings and a watch and leather bracelet add to the layered feel and boho theme. And of course when you’re a busy girl like me you need a big, but adorable, bag to hold an extra pair of shoes and all your fashionable necessities throughout the day!

Here comes the sun!

Finally the sun has been making an appearance! That means all the fabulous shorts and flowy sheer tops get to come out from the bottom of my closet. I live for the days that I have off from work and the sun is shinning. On the next day this happens I have a plan to go stand-up paddle boarding in Lake Washington or Lake Union ad then stroll the sidewalks of University Village!

Hope you all enjoy the sun wherever you are!
